For some reason, getting my appendix taken out has been a nearly life-long fear of mine (this could probably be attributed to the book in the Madeline series where Madeline gets her appendix out and has a nasty scar to show off to all of her friends after the procedure. That prospect terrified me as a child). However, I wasn't as nervous about the procedure itself as I was knowing that I had a tiny baby at home who needed his mama. Thankfully, my own mom was still in town. Tender mercy. Furthermore, Gage had learned to take a bottle in the NICU. Another tender mercy. In fact, the NICU had sent us home with lots of infant formula, so Gage was well taken care of while I was in the hospital overnight. After all was said and done, it was amazing to see the Lord's hand in the whole experience. He sent Gage to us a little early for a reason.
One of our favorite shots of this little guy. He pulls some of the funniest faces in his sleep.
Proud Grandpa
Proud Grammy. (Notice that little hand by his face . . . that's right where he likes it.)
A most unflattering post-operation picture. I'm so grateful to Parker for sticking by my side during those hours. He is a sweet, sweet husband.
I was so happy to be reunited with my darling little boy! That mama-baby connection is the real deal.
